I Am Cenote

BY CAMILA JABER

‘I Am Cenote’ focuses on the wonders of freediving and how it can unlock connections within and with the world around you. Within the Yucatan Peninsula’s underground rivers lie the sacred cenotes—a precious yet vulnerable system facing unprecedented challenges. Rapid growth and tourism’s impact threaten these hidden jewels, concealed from the naked eye. Camila’s evocative piece portrays the contrasts of the cenotes, their magic awakening the senses. With a female voice as the embodiment of a cenote’s wonders, the eye witnesses a freediver gracefully dancing in a typical dress amid spectacular scenarios. The waters symbolise life’s origin, inspiration, and serenity, urging us to rediscover our sacred connection with the unseen. Camila’s work encourages you to immerse yourself and find self-discovery in the embrace of water.
