After The Fall

BY TAIWO AINA

Taiwo’s project, ‘After The Fall’ was awarded an Honourable Mention in the 2022 Earth Partner Prize. The project focused on investigating the devastating impact of flooding on the residents of Kontonkarfe, a region in North Central Nigeria. Flooding has been a recurring issue in this area, affecting the lives and livelihoods of the local population. Farmlands have been washed away, fishes are not found in the river, and businesses have collapsed. ‘After The Fall’ explores how climate change is affecting human lives and welfare using the aftermath of the flooding issue in Kotonkafe, Lokoja as a case study.
