I Know Who I Am

BY TYLER HICKS AND ISAAK ADOYI

The film underscores humanity’s connection to nature as a collective source of life, and the vital need to protect the environment against escalating climate and environmental emergencies.

Shooting between Malibu and Atlanta, Adoyi and Hicks combine analog and digital footage, employing colour symbolism to convey the emotions that carry each chapter of the journey. Honoring Adoyi’s Togolese heritage through visual and poetic devices, I Know Who I Am intertwines personal ancestry with themes of resilience and reverence, marking the cultural impact of the climate crisis, and the urgency of preserving the environment for future generations.

ABOUT TYLER AND ISAAK

Tyler and Isaak are multidisciplinary artists whose practices intersect across photography, filmmaking, and art direction. Based in Los Angeles, the duo bring together distinct personal histories and creative lenses to craft work that is both intimate and socially resonant.

Tyler, a photographer and art director from Inglewood, California, draws on her experiences navigating the contrasts of privilege and marginalization. With a dual academic background in International Relations and Fine Arts from USC, she brings a layered perspective to her work, often interrogating themes of race, gender, access, and representation. Her projects aim to amplify underrepresented voices, with clients including Apple, Google, YouTube, Delta, and Warner Bros., and features in TIME Magazine, National Geographic, Harper’s Bazaar, and Adweek.

Isaak, born in Togo and raised in the United States, is a model, photographer, actor, and filmmaker represented by Storm Management. His multifaceted career spans fashion, fine art, and documentary storytelling, with features in Black Is King, campaigns for Nike, Beats by Dre, and Nordstrom, and recognition from PhotoVogue. His filmmaking, including the short I Know Who I Am, reflects his ongoing exploration of humanity’s bond with nature and his Togolese heritage.
