Christian’s project explores the unparalleled beauty and ecological significance of temperate rainforests. What began as research for photographing orchids during his travels across England developed into an exploration of unique and endangered environments, leading him to the extraordinary world of temperate rainforests—an ecosystem rich in history and ecological importance.
Historically, temperate rainforests once covered nearly 20% of the British Isles. However, relentless deforestation and human encroachment have reduced this ecosystem to less than 1% of its original expanse. Through this photography series, Christian aims to foster a deeper appreciation for their preservation, emphasising the urgent need to protect these irreplaceable natural treasures for future generations.
