Human Death Is Near.

BY MATIN HASHEMI

This project traces the drastic collapse of Lake Urmia, once nearly 6,000 square kilometres with over 33 billion cubic meters of water, now reduced to roughly 581 square kilometres and about 500 million cubic meters. Driven by damming, river diversion, intensive agriculture, and rising temperatures, the lake’s retreat has exposed vast salt beds that fuel dust storms and undermine local health, agriculture, and livelihoods.
