Feedback Loop

BY RUSLANA KLIUCHKO

This project examines the ecological consequences of war in Ukraine, focusing on the forests of the Sumy region near the artist’s hometown of Khutir-Mykhailivskyi. Nearly three million hectares of Ukrainian forests have been affected by military operations, through burning, logging, and restricted access caused by landmines and ongoing conflict. The work reflects on the long-term environmental impacts of this destruction, including the loss of biodiversity, depletion of water resources, soil erosion, and worsening air quality.
