In Your Own Time

BY SIS GURDAL

The project explores the connection between mental health and climate action. Using a ‘Meditation Guide’ format, she draws attention to the need for focus when it comes to climate change, highlighting how our mental well-being is impacted by a lack of focus. By presenting climate change as a meditative question rather than a complete statement, she aims to create clarity in the climate discourse. Through the visual and auditory elements of video, she invites the audience to explore the tensions presented. As a filmmaker, she prioritises aesthetics that strengthen powerful ideas, while always aiming to activate her audience and create artistic experiences with a social purpose. This work challenges the efficacy of psychology research in conveying climate change messages to the public, aiming to inspire viewers to question their experience and avoid synthesising a singular meaning.
